Director of Policy and Advocacy
Ann Vaughan is the Director of Policy and Advocacy for Mercy Corps, an international humanitarian and development organization that works in 44 countries in conflict or transitioning from conflict. Last year, Mercy Corps helped improve the lives of 19 million people with programs that provide communities in the world’s toughest places with the tools and support they need to transform their own lives. In her current position at Mercy Corps, Ann manages the Policy and Advocacy team, covers Latin America, Central and South Asia policy, food security, budget and civ-mil issues and serves as a co-chair of Interaction’s Afghanistan Reconstruction Working Group and Public Policy Committee. Prior to her time at Mercy Corps, she served for a year in Kandahar City, Afghanistan as a Field Program Officer with the US Agency for International Development. She also worked as a staffer on Capitol Hill for 7 years, including as an Appropriations Associate for Congresswoman Nita Lowey where she focused on foreign operations appropriations. Ann has her Masters in International Development Studies/Post-Conflict Reconstruction from George Washington University and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nicaragua.
