John Service has over 16 years of experience working on humanitarian response efforts in both natural and manmade disasters in many countries including Angola, Zambia, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Guyana, Haiti, South Sudan, Philippines, Nepal, Ecuador and Turkey. John has hands on experience in the entire range of humanitarian work covering: needs assessments, targeting, intervention design and proposal writing, response set up, operations, monitoring and evaluation, security, country program management, national and international coordination, best practice and guideline elaboration, and technical support and capacity building assistance. As the Senior Technical Advisor for Humanitarian Operations based in HQ, John provides back stop support to agency emergency field operations, manages the operations team, deploys overseas whenever needed, and ensures optimal coordination and communication both internally and externally. From October 2014 to April 2015 John served as HQ coordinator for CRS Ebola Disease Outbreak Response in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, and he was a Country Representative in the Dominican Republic from 2008 to 2012
