Virtual Disaster Simulation Session

An interactive learning lab to better understand and build a resilient supply chain

7 September 2016 2 - 3:30pm

Aid & International Development Forum (AIDF) organised the Virtual Disaster Simulation for humanitarian and development professionals on 7 September 2016 as part of the Global Disaster Relief Summit in Washnigton D.C.

Breaking news: Natural disaster in Terratoras and Gondor threatens lives of tens of thousands

Aid agencies based in Terratoras and neighbouring country Gondor in the Americas bordering the Atlantic Ocean, are responding to the humanitarian crisis caused by the worst natural disaster in recent years.

Victims are in dire need of shelter, medical supplies and WASH products

The simulation uses virtual and live action role playing to simulate post-disaster supply chains for key commodities. You are invited to use smartphones or tablets to play the role of supplier (private sector), government (public sector) or NGO (non-government organisation) working in a crisis scenario.

Your assigned role will be different to your day job and will therefore provide a new perspective. Each role has a different objective, requiring players to coordinate and collaborate with their sector, demographic, and geographic partners to fill gaps and reduce overlap to keep supply lines open.
